Thought for the Weekend - Fiction & Feelings

I read something during the week which struck a cord with me.

Sometimes when we're writing, something very wonderful happens - you get to really feel for and with the characters you are creating.  It is a great moment, for when it occurs you know you have gotten to the place where you need to be, right at the core of it all, right at the core of them.

Anyhow, the piece I read, and apologies in advance to whoever wrote it, because I didn't take note of the source, goes something like this:-

'Fiction isn't real, but feelings are.'

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

  2. people often underestimate books and art. They see science and like-minded industries are more important. But doesn't fiction, like other forms of art, allow people to get in touch with their emotions? To figure out who they really are?

And I love that too, with my characters. That 'knowing' feeling.

    1. So right Jessica - the best fiction for me, is fiction which catches my emotions, and brings me really into the story - there in lies the magic of it all:)

  3. Interesting post. Writers are often advised to 'write what you know'. I think it's often better to write what you feel - you can research and imagine the rest
