Good and Bad...or Bad and Good??

The good news - Today I had a very impressive word count.....

The bad news - I wrote a paragraph that really upset me (this rarely happens, so it probably won't stay)...

The good news - I think I've figured out how it is all going to end.....

The bad news - It will require more words than I bargained for....(deadlines are scary things!)

Hibernation...

The hibernation continues.....I am now somewhere in the middle of the story, but with no idea how far it is to the end...this may be a good or bad thing.....

Winter Island Bliss!!

Today was a good day! It's part of my New Year Resolutions, to celebrate the positives. 

I got up early, getting some of the day job out of the way, and managed to squeeze in over 2,000 words, and I actually have an idea as to what I plan to write about tomorrow (so feeling a little less pressured). 

And even though I have only finished the day job now, and only managed to get part of the Christmas decorations down, I got a lovely review from a new reader, and two sets of 5 stars from Goodreads.

To top it all off, because most writers are mad, I've just booked a weekend away on an island off the coast of Ireland in the middle of winter for research purposes!!

Life is good.....

To Plot or not to Plot....

Some writers plan out their entire novel before they start, others do outlines for chapters as they progress. Sadly I do neither, which gets me into a whole lot of trouble plot wise...I've written myself into a cul-de-sac or two on this current one, maming U-turns inevitable! It will be an early start in the morning, when brain function will be required at optimum level!!

Two Steps Forward and One Step Back!

A day of two steps forward and one step back novel wise, but at least it has moved on.. I think! Head exhausted now and a sleep on couch is looking very tempting....Does anyone else feel more tired when they're making stuff up???

Firstly, thank you all for your wonderful birthday wishes - I've had an amazing weekend, and I appreciate my good fortune in having such great friends and family to share these milestones with!! Plus thanks to the person who posted another 5 stars for LAST KISS on Goodreads.....and all the other amazing reviews so far....they make going into hibernation shortly to write novel 4 a lot easier!!!   

Beginnings.......

I'm feeling a little emotional right now. Beginnings and endings and sometimes the bit in the middle, can do that to me!

This morning I started novel 4. I had marked the date on my calendar and so the day came, and one way or another I was going to begin. I won't give you the working title for the novel yet. It's best to keep these things and your fictional story close to you in the early stages. Fiction can be like that, it can get messed up by the real world getting hold of it too soon.

Anyhow, the journey has begun, all 1038 words of it, and at some point in the future, probably around 100,000 plus words, the first draft of this writing journey will exist. I don't know the exact form it will take, not being someone who knows the plot of their novel before they write it, but I do know it will mean something to me by the end of it, and hopefully it will be a story people will enjoy reading.

Right, off to make a cuppa.....see you on the other side!
