Now, I know how you all secretly love these vintage ads, and I definitely like to keep you entertained, but today's advertisement from the 1970's sort of floors you! For those of you who find the small print difficult, I have copied the words to below the image.
Doll to Doll carpeting indeed!
(Looking forward to your comments as always!)
"Though she was a tiger lady, our hero didn't have to fire a shot to floor her. After one look at Mr.Leggs slacks, she was ready to have him walk all over her. That noble styling sure soothes the savage heart! If you'd like your own doll to doll carpeting, hunt up a pair of these he man Mr Leggs slacks....."
Wow us women sure have evolved ....good or bad I'm not sure, like to be empowered but like to be treated like a lady and on occasions would be great to be treated like a princess!
ReplyDeletePrincess I can do Kerry, but doll to doll carpeting isn't in my range!
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm certainly FLOORED!
ReplyDeleteThank God we've moved on a bit! Not totally, but a bit. We still have 'Mum's gone to Iceland' and rubbish like that, and we have padded bra's for 8 year olds. But that advert belongs in the dark ages!
ReplyDeleteYeap FLOORED just about covers it Kat!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mandy, yes we have moved on but probably not enough!
Wow! Did we really have ads like that and more importantly, did they really encourage us to buy the products? And on another note, I wonder is that Simon Cowell...?
ReplyDeleteI cud start a campaign Maria! Who is dat man in the high slacks!!!
ReplyDeleteThey really got away with Holy Murder in the 70's, it is just so redic!
ReplyDeleteYeah - no way would the ad fly now Michelle!
ReplyDeletewe...that is ...confusionosity of life and me...think the same...nothing changes!
ReplyDeleteAh surely some things have changed Gerry?
ReplyDeleteLouise,
ReplyDeleteSorry it took me so long to make it over here. I love it. It's amazing that an ad for doll-to-doll carpet could have been so widely published so few years ago. It makes me realize how far we've come in a relatively short period of time.
No worries Tracy - Glad you enjoyed it and yes we have moved on in many ways!
