WHO KILLED EDEN MULLIGAN?

A MASSIVE CONGRATS to Sharon Dempsey whose novel 'WHO TOOK EDEN MULLIGAN' is out today! It's been getting great reviews and I for one can't wait to get reading, especially with the amazing blurb below.....

‘A dark, disturbing and gripping read ... Sharon Dempsey will be one to watch!’ Claire Allan, USA Today bestselling author

‘They’re dead. They’re all dead. It’s my fault. I killed them.’

Those are the words of Iona Gardener, who stands bloodied and staring as she confesses to the murder of four people in a run-down cottage outside of Belfast.

Outside the cottage, five old dolls are hanging from a tree. Inside the cottage, the words “WHO TOOK EDEN MULLIGAN?” are graffitied on the wall, connecting the murder scene with the famous cold case of Eden Mulligan, a mother-of-five who went missing during The Troubles.

But this case is different. Right from the start.

Because no one in the community is willing to tell the truth, and the only thing DI Danny Stowe and forensic psychologist Rose Lainey can be certain of is that Iona Gardener’s confession is false....

A creepy, gritty and very compelling crime novel, perfect for fans of Patricia Gibney, Angela Marsons and Jane Casey.

GUILT RULES ALL!

Some of you may have noticed my lack of posting for a wee while. It's hasn't been because I've disappeared off the planet, more a twist and turn of life, so please forgive me.

However, today I'm delighted to share this Irish Crime Fiction gem with you. Edited by Elizabeth Mannion and Brian Cliff 'GUILT RULES ALL 'explores and celebrates Irish Crime Fiction. I feel honoured to be one of the writers featured in this work which conveys the breadth of the genre.

Within a piece by Rosemary Erickson Johnson on the Kate Pearson series, she says, "Phillips's series offers insight into contemporary Irish society, with a particular reference to women's lives and feminist issues, and helps us to define the parameters of domestic noir in the face of sometimes-competing demands of series fiction."

Well, that will do me!

Hope you are all surviving these rather testing times!

Writer's Block ....THE GLOSS MAGAZINE!

Thank you so much Sophie Grenham, of THE GLOSS magazine, for this lovely feature today 'Writer's Block with Louise Phillips', and her absolutely stunning review of THE HIDING GAME!
“With sleek, effortless transitions, including heartfelt vignettes from Elizabeth, The Hiding Game is a page-turner right from the start. The narrative is taut as a drum, with an abundance of gripping dialogue and genuinely chilling moments. Phillips’s unique ability to pull the reader inside her head and absorb the emotions she pours onto the page is just one of her many powers.”

You can read full article HERE, but this is a short extract.....

"I have beautiful memories too. I loved watching the throngs of seagulls swoop down early morning in the washing yard, and how later, the washing yard was still a magical place, as I ran through the lines and lines of large white sheets. I think it’s partly why I became a writer, that early escape to fantasy in order to survive reality."

Colin Farrell's Adaptation of THE RUIN by Dervla Mc Tiernan!

Colin Farrell is teaming up with Lee Magiday and Hopscotch Features on a screen adaptation of Irish crime novel THE RUIN by Dervla McTiernan.

This will be the first project for Farrell’s new production company Chapel Place Productions.

Irish writer Dervla McTiernan’s well-received thriller, set in Galway, follows detective Cormac Reilly as he is thrown back into a case from 20 years before involving two children whose mother died of an overdose. Through the eyes of the detective we see into dark corners of Ireland including police corruption and abuses in the church.
Colin Farrell will play detective Cormac Reilly.

"The Ruin" is Dervla McTiernan's debut novel and the first in the series of books about Reilly, which means it could be a franchise for the star.

The latest novel in the series, "The Good Turn," will be published in 2020.
